Stratford Greenway

Perfect for car-free walking, jogging, cycling, and horse riding, the Stratford Greenway is a peaceful route through beautiful countryside. It’s a great place to spot wildlife, enjoy open views, and explore Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding villages.

The Greenway forms part of the National Cycle Network, making up a five-mile section of the West Midlands Cycle Route, which links Oxford to Derby via Birmingham. The route is traffic-free, though you will need to cross a few minor roads along the way. Please be mindful of other users – slow down when passing walkers, cyclists, or horse riders, and use your bell if needed.

There are two cafes and a bike hire located along the Greenway.

Between Long Marston and Milcote, the Greenway is a permissive bridleway. Other than two gates near Seven Meadows and Milcote car parks, access is straightforward. At these gates, “horse boxes” are provided alongside – these are about 250 mm high and allow cyclists to lift bikes over easily.

If you’ve been to visit Stratford Greenway recently, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Please take five minutes to complete our visitor feedback survey.

Natural England and Natural Resources Wales have updated the Countryside Code advice for countryside visitors. Please read the Countryside Code so we can all enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

Dogs

Dogs should be on leads or under close control at all times. Please respect any signage that states that dogs are not allowed in specific areas. Dog waste bins are available on site.

Drones

  • Hobbyist – We do not authorise hobbyist drone flying in any of our parks or greenways. The reason for this is to protect wildlife including schedule 1 bird species, and ensure a safe experience for all visitors who enjoy our parks.

  • Commercial Operations – A pilot requires permission of the landowner (WCC) to take off and land the drone on their property. We only permit a CAA licensed pilot/company. Any requests must be in writing to the Parks Manager parks@warwickshire.gov.uk.
