Come along on a mini-beast hunting adventure with the Rangers. Armed with pots and nets, we will be heading up to the meadow to discover the creatures lurking amongst, or flying above, the grass! An event for children aged 3 years and above, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Every Wednesday during Warwickshire’s school summer holiday. Come and give the sport of fishing a try! All bait and equipment provided – bring waterproofs, just in case! Juniors aged 12 to 16 years of age will need a valid rod licence for the day (free from the Environment Agencies ‘I Want to Fish’ service). All children must be accompanied by an adult.

A weekly event for the tiniest of tiddlers! Leaf fun, stories, mud pies and collecting treasures will be amongst some of our activities designed for the smallest naturalists. After the walk and activities, head back to The Courtyard Cafe for refreshments (extra cost for refreshments, exclusive reduced-priced Toddler Trundle menu available). A quarterly programme is available from the Visitor Centre, giving activity details for each week.

Secret Garden and Fairy Felting Workshop at Ryton Pools Country Park

Come and learn the wonderful craft of felt making with felt artist, Ursula Westwood. Create a picture of creatures that come out at night at Ryton Pools. August Wild Evening Out at Ryton Pools Country Park

As dusk falls, join in the hunt for nocturnal wildlife. Start off by pond dipping to see what’s lurking in the murky depths, followed by shelter building in the wood. A break around the campfire with jacket potatoes and hot chocolate will be followed by bat detecting, before finishing off the evening checking our moth traps. Bring your own potato filling and dress for the outdoors. Suitable for children aged 3 years and above, who must be accompanied by an adult. Under 5’s will need extra supervision with these activities.

Young Bushcrafter at Ryton Pools Country Park

Fun Bushcraft session led by two of the Rangers. Activities include fire lighting, whittling, cordage making, location games and shelter building. This session will include a campfire baked potato, handmade dough sticks, popcorn and marshamallows. Parents wanting to join in on the baked potato feast can at a cost of £2.50 per adult. Saturday 26 August

Night Fishing Sessions at Kingsbury Water Park

We are again offering anglers the opportunity to fish Pine Pool (open to all) or Canal Pool (carp permit holders only) from the morning of Saturday 26th August through to the evening of Sunday 27th August. Peg will be allocated at the time of booking. Bookings close at 1:00pm on the Friday before the event. Please note there will be an administration fee of £5.00 to change your initial booking. A further session will be held on the weekend on 23/24 September.

Come along and learn about practical country park management in the best way possible – by getting stuck in! Meeting one Saturday per month, we will undertake a variety of practical work tasks such as pond clearance, fence repairs and hedge laying. This is a great way to meet like-minded people, keep active and help manage your local country park! No experience necessary as full training will be given. Please bring sturdy footwear and suitable clothing for the weather conditions.

Mud Pies and Sculptures at Kingsbury Water Park

Come and use our mud to make some fantastic mud pies. Have fun mixing, moulding and making pies, cakes and other wonderful concoctions. Suitable for children aged 3 years and above who must be accompanied by an adult.
