Junk Boats at Kingsbury Water Park

What’s in our junk box? Can you make a boat out of it and get it to float? Join us to find out!

FRIDAY 2 June

Bish Bash Bosh Art at Kingsbury Water Park

Try out the traditional Japanese art form of leaf bashing. Its great fun (if a little noisy) and you can make a striking piece of textile art. An event for children aged 5 years and above.  Wear old clothes – you will get muddy and dirty!

SATURDAY 3 June

Minibeast Hunting at Kingsbury Water Park

Come and join us for a #30dayswild event! One of our rangers will be leading 2, one hour minibeast hunting sessions. These one hour events will take place in a patch of our woodland – why not come along and see what beasties you can find!

SATURDAY 3 June

Volunteer Saturday at Ryton Pools Country Park

Come along and learn about practical country park management in the best way possible – by getting stuck in! Meeting one Saturday per month, we will undertake a variety of practical woprk tasks such as pond clearance, fence repairs and hedge laying. This is a great way to meet like-minded people, keep active and help manage your local country park! No experience necessary as full training is given. Please bring sturdy footwear and suitable clothes for the weather conditions.

SATURDAY 3 June

Kenilworth Greenway Moth Night

A new FREE event, run in conjuncxtion with the Sustrans ‘Greener Greenways’ project. We will be setting and checking a number of light traps along the Greenway to discover which colourful species we can attract as dusk falls! An exciting introduction to the amazing world of moths and the importance of recording them. There will be experts on hand to answer any questions and help identify the species we find.

SUNDAY 4 June

Kingsbury Water Park Model Boat Club Open Day

A day with visiting clubs, we will be exhibiting the skills of boat modellers with static and sailing displays. Yachting, scale, fast electric, i/c racing, tethered hydroplane (120mph+). We will be pleased to chat and answer any questions you may have. Light refreshments available.

WEDNESDAY 7 June

Toddler Trundle at Ryton Pools Country Park

A weekly event for the tiniest of tiddlers! Leaf fun, stories, mud pies and collecting treasures will be amongst some of our activities designed for the smallest naturalists. After the walk and activities, head back to The Courtyard Cafe for refreshments (extra cost for refreshments, exclusive reduced-priced Toddler Trundle menu available). A quarterly programme is available from the Visitor Centre, giving activity details for each week.

Nature Crowns Walk at Kingsbury Water Park

Come and join us for a #30dayswild event! Join Laura as she takes you on a guided walk to gather natural materials to make your very own wild nature crown! An event for children aged 4 years and above.  Wear old clothes – you will get muddy and dirty!

Wild Camp Out at Ryton Pools Country Park

Come and join us as we have our very first wild camp out. With bat walks, ghost stories, toasting marshmallows, orienteering, wild mammal traps, bushcraft and much much more! Price includes 3 main activities, jacket potato, hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Guided Wild Walk at Kingsbury Water Park

Come and join us for a #30dayswild event! Join Laura as she takes you on a guided walk around Kingsbury Water Park, through woodland and meadow and along the River Tame to explore the park and discover new areas. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for this 2 mile walk.

SUNDAY 18 JUNE

Daddy’s Dens at Ryton Pools Country Park

Bring your dad along for Father’s Dayto design and build a den in our woods. The rangers will have all the kit you need. What challenges will you pick for your Dad? Will it be fire lighting, waterproofing your den or one of the many other challenges? Finish up by toasting marshmallows on the fire and sipping hot chocolate.

SATURDAY 24/SUNDAY 25 June

Night Fishing Sessions at Kingsbury Water Park

We are again offering anglers the opportunity to fish Pine Pool (open to all) or Canal Pool (carp permit holders only) from the morning of Saturday 24 June through to the evening of Sunday 25 June. Pegs will be allocated at the time of booking. Bookings close 1:00pm on the Friday before the event. Please note there will be an administration fee of £5.00 to change your initial booking. Three further sessions will be held on the weekends of 29/30 July, 26/27 August and 23/24 September. 

  • Time: 5:30am on Saturday through to 8:30pm on Sunday
  • Cost: £40.00 (£20.00 for permit holders), payable at time of booking

FRIDAY 30 JUNE

Moth Night 2017 at Ryton Pools Country Park

Moths are marvellous! Learn about these fascinating and beautiful night flyers as part of a network of events nationwide for the Hawk-moth themed Moth Night 2017. A presentation on these beautiful insects will be followed by light trapping live in the park. If you would like to see the moths by the light of day, our moth breakfast the next morning (Saturday 1 July) could be for you! Please bring a torch.
