Cycling

Kingsbury Water Park

There are many miles of surfaced paths around the site, and the more adventurous can cycle on the bridleway around the southern perimeter of the Park. No cycling is allowed through the Woodland Walk, around the Nature Reserve at the Broomey Croft side of the Park, or in the Visitor Centre courtyard.

Please remember that, if you are cycling on the pathways through the Park you may encounter other vehicles, and that if you use the bridleway you may meet up with horse riders. When approaching walkers using the same path, please slow down and, if necessary, sound your bell. Please be careful if you cycle close to any of the lakes as fishermen may be casting a line.

Ryton Pools

There are miles of surfaced paths around the site which cyclists are permitted to use provided they proceed with caution and are aware that others may also be using the Park. Please remember that, if you are cycling on the surfaced roads, you may meet vehicles. Slow down when approaching walkers using the same path, and sound your bell if necessary. A 16 mile Mountain Bike Trail starts from Ryton Pools Country Park. It uses public roads and bridleways, so the surface may be rough and muddy.

Stratford Greenway

The Greenway is a high quality surfaced path suitable for cyclists. It is part of the National Cycle Network, forming a five mile section of the West Midlands Cycle Route, which links Oxford to Derby via Birmingham. Please remember that other cyclists, horseriders and walkers will be using the route and you should slow down as you approach them, and sound your bell if necessary.

Circular cycle routes can be taken from the Greenway. These include the Stratford – Ilmington route, through the pretty Cotswold countryside, and the Stratford – Redditch route which includes some canal towpaths.

There are two kissing gates on the Greenway (near Seven Meadows and Milcote car parks) which must be passed through. These can be negotiated by inserting the front wheel into the specially created vertical gap between the hoops, allowing the gate to close behind the bike. Riders of longer bikes (e.g. tandems or trailer bikes), or wheelchair users, can purchase a key from Kingsbury Water Park (01827 872660) which will allow the gate to open fully.

Hire a bike locally from Statford Bike Hire, phone 07711 776340.
